Score with Character

Our core museum program focusing on the importance of character to success in sports - and in life. Students engage in a museum activities designed to guide them through the museum and encourage them to utilize interactive exhibits and examine artifacts.

Sports Figures

Students use statistics and information throughout the Museum to solve math problems. This math program can be used in conjunction with ESPN's Sports Figures video series. Museum staff works with teachers to develop questions suitable to students' abilities and needs. Grades 3-8.

Careers in Sports

Students learn about non-athletic careers in the sports industry. Speakers discuss their educational background and the paths they took to accomplish their goals. Students visit The Sports Museum before or after they listen to the speaker. Classes are encouraged to have questions prepared for the speaker. Grades 5-12.

Will McDonough Writing Contest

Our annual writing contest launched in January of each year named after the legendary Boston Globe sportswriter. The contest is designed to encourage the development of language and writing skills while incorporating the topic of sports and the Stand Strong concepts of Determination, Courage, Teamwork, Fairness, and Responsibility.
