Seven Boston sports greats who each won titles were honored during the 21st edition of The Tradition on Wednesday.The annual fundraising gala at TD Garden helps support The Sports Museum, one of the longest-running sports museums in the country, as well as the educational programs that the nonprofit educational institution provides to at-risk children in the community.This year's honorees included former Boston Red Sox outfielder Johnny Damon, who helped the team win the 2004 World Series; former Boston Celtics sixth man M.L. Carr, a two-time NBA champion; former New England Patriots safety Lawyer Milloy, who helped the Pats win their first Super Bowl as a captain on the 2001 team; four-time Boston Marathon champion Bill Rodgers; and Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Recchi, who won the 2011 Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins.Boston Pride captain Jillian Dempsey and Boston Renegades star Chanté Bonds took part in a special joint presentation on the 50th anniversary of Title IX. Dempsey has led the Pride to three Isobel Cup championships (2016, 2021, 2022) and won the 2015 Clarkson Cup as a member of the Boston Blades — now the Worcester Blades of the Canadian Women's Hockey League.
