Dana White has traveled a far distance since he worked as a bellhop at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Yet one quality that has defined him throughout this ongoing, improbable adventure is his hunger for more.
The Tradition announced the five Boston sports legends to be honored at the 22nd annual Sports Museum’s gala. Dennis Eckersley (Red Sox), Doc Rivers (Celtics), Briana Scurry (USWNT), Bob Sweeney (Bruins), and Dana White (UFC) will be celebrated Nov. 29 at TD Garden.
White, who is the UFC CEO, received the Special Achievement Award. He was introduced by UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell, who stood beside White as he received the award.
Sweeney was a Bruins player for six years, and now for the last 22 years, he has worked to create a solid base for the Boston Bruins Foundation. Having earned the title of President, he has helped the Foundation to raise roughly $62 million doing an outstanding job. During this Centennial year the Foundation will donate $50,000 to a minimum of 20 New England charities.
